Dicentra 'King of Hearts'

'King of Hearts' Bleeding Heart
Carrying genes of D. peregrina, D. formosa subsp. oregana, and D. eximia, this superb hybrid displays strong hybrid vigor and many admirable traits. For starters, 'King of Hearts' is a lovely foliage plant. It is clothed in finely divided soft grayish green leaves that hold up nicely throughout the growing season (as opposed to many species that fade in the heat of summer). It is also a big bloomer, actually an incredibly big bloomer. Flowering nonstop throughout summer, 'King of Hearts' blooms and blooms with masses of soft rosy pink heart-shaped flowers carried attractively above the foliar mass. Use 'King of Hearts' alone as a general cover or in combination with wildflowers, ferns, hostas, and numerous other shade loving ground covers.
