'Red Velvet' Yarrow
Achillea 'Red Velvet'

'Red Velvet' Yarrow
Reaching only 1 1/2 feet tall, 'Red Velvet' stays upright, and is not prone to flopping over like many other Achilleas. Its aromatic fernlike foliage is mid green, attractive through the year, and sets a nice backdrop to the deep red, pink-infused, yellow centered flowers borne June to August. Even as the flowers fade during September, they transition to a dusky mauve, and continue to decorate the late season landscape. Great as a ground cover or companion, 'Red Velvet' thrives in sandy and rocky soil, and is excellent with ornamental grasses, garden phlox, cone flowers, Shasta daisies, Calamintha, and Coreopsis.
