Several years in the making, we have compiled what we feel are the very best hen and chicks. Having reviewed more than 5,000 selections in all parts of North America, we have digested the offering down to seventy two.

Landscape Value

Small to moderate scale ground cover, accent, edging, or companion. Great in rock gardens and planters. Very drought resistant.

Care

Watering:

Mother Hen TM Collection is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.

Fertilizing:

Mother Hen TM Collection needs little fertilizer, but benefits from a single springtime or fall topdressing (about 1 inch deep) of organic compost or well rotted leaves. Alternatively, a springtime application of a slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.

Pruning:

Mother Hen TM Collection is evergreen and does not require pruning. It is normally only pruned for the purpose of keeping it within bounds.
