Exposure

A lovely and unique bicolor Clematis, Claire de Lune™ brightens gardens early in the spring with its 6-inch blossoms which persist until September. The petals of these stunning flowers glow with a light apple green, eventually fading to pure white with an undulating border of pale ruffled lavender- all surrounding deep plum anthers at the center. The clean green foliage of this exceptional plant makes a nice backdrop to the floral display. A spreader/climber, it is ideal to use as a ‘spiller’ over retaining walls or containers, and can be trained to climb a trellis or wall (with proper support).

Care
Watering:
Claire de Lune™ Clematis requires a fair amount of supplemental watering and often requires watering on a regular basis during the growing season.
Fertilizing:
Claire de Lune Clematis benefits from regular feeding and likely will grow best with: a spring (May) application of slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1,000 square feet, and a summer (July) application of slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1,000 square feet, and and early fall (September) application of a 2-1-2 ratio (such as a 10-5-10) at a rate of 15 pounds per 1,000 square feet to encourage root development and cold hardiness.
Pruning:
Claire de Lune Clematis sets its flower buds in fall, blooms in spring, and should be pruned (if that is desirable) back to a bud, immediately after flowering.
