Origanum rotundifolium ‘Kent Beauty’
Blooming Time
Exposure

With a lovely cascading habit of multibranched stems, this unique plant is clothed in powdery blue-green, coin shaped foliage. For foliage alone, it is worth planting. But, its flowers are even better. During summer and fall its stems are bent over with a multitude of hop-like flowers that are first green, then dusty rose, the deep mauve-pink. ‘Kent Beauty’ is wonderful in the smaller perennial garden, adorning paths, and looks terrific cascading over walls.

Care
Watering:
'Kent Beauty' Origanum is moderately drought tolerant but benefits from occasional watering, to maintain soil in a moist but not wet condition, during the summer months.
Fertilizing:
'Kent Beauty' Origanum benefits from regular feeding and likely will grow best with: a spring (May) application of slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet, and a summer (July) application of slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) at a rate of about 10 pound per 1000 square feet, and and an early fall (September) application of a 2-1-2 ratio (such as a 10-5-10) at a rate of 15 pounds per 1000 square feet to encourage root development and cold hardiness.
Pruning:
'Kent Beauty' Origanum should be enjoyed all winter long, then, during early April before it begins to grow again, it should be pruned or mowed back to ground level.
