This ‘Dazzleberry’ sport was selected for its intensely dark, plum colored foliage and compact, well-branching habit. Providing foliar color in the landscape from the very beginning of spring and into the throws of winter, Plum Dazzled is enlivened by a blanket of fluffy, star shaped raspberry flowers in late summer that attracts bees and butterflies. A slow, creeping habit makes this selection ideal for use in rock gardens where it will tuck itself into crevices, as a small scale ground cover, or as a filler in containers.

Care

Watering:

Sunsparkler® Plum Dazzled Sedum is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.

Fertilizing:

Sunsparkler® Plum Dazzled Sedum needs little fertilizer, but benefits from a single springtime or fall topdressing (about 1 inch deep) of organic compost or well rotted leaves. Alternatively, a springtime application of a slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.

Pruning:

Sunsparkler® Plum Dazzled Sedum should be enjoyed all winter long, then, during early April before it begins to grow again, it should be pruned or mowed back to ground level.
