A favorite in our trials; Spring Beauty™ Pink is a rare spring-blooming windflower, boasting abundant vivid pink blossoms with clear white centers. These are carried well above deep green fern-like foliage. In summer, the blossoms give way to wispy (sterile) seed heads, creating interest in the summer garden. With a deceptively delicate appearance, these compact plants are surprisingly sturdy and remain clean and upright throughout the seasons. Lovely in mass planting as well as mixed borders, ‘Spring Beauty’ thrives in average well-drained soils, and pairs well with many companions.

Care

Watering:

Spring Beauty™ Windflower requires a fair amount of supplemental watering and often requires watering on a regular basis during the growing season.

Fertilizing:

Spring Beauty™ Windflower is a moderate feeder, benefiting from a couple of annual applications of slow release fertilizer. A spring application of a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet, and during early fall, an application of a 2-1-2 ratio (such as a 10-5-10) can be applied to encourage root development and cold hardiness.

Pruning:

Spring Beauty™ Windflower should be pruned while dormant during late fall or winter.
