Carex woodii
Blooming Time
Exposure

Indigenous to the hardwood forests surrounding the Great Lakes, Carex woodii is a beautiful woodland sedge. Its finely textured leaves emerge blue-green in early spring; and by April and May its graceful foliage is topped with spikes of straw colored flowers. Similar to Carex pensylvanica, as a turf substitute or low maintenance groundcover, Carex woodii is tolerant of dense shade, and forms tight colonies for superior weed supression.
