The fine textured gray-green foliage of `Blonde Ambition’ is exceptional on its own but its flowers are what set it apart, making it completely different than any other ornamental grass. The flowers resemble small flags, curiously held in a horizontal fashion atop tall, sturdy floral stems. Borne in profusion during midsummer, the flowers emerge chartreuse and age to soft blonde, later giving way to seed heads that remain effective through fall and winter. `Blonde Ambition’ grows well in a variety of soils, is extremely cold hardy and low maintenance, making it a great choice for borders, containers, mass planting, and rock gardens.

Care

Watering:

'Blonde Ambition' Blue Grama is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.

Fertilizing:

'Blonde Ambition' Blue Grama is a moderate feeder, benefiting from a couple of annual applications of slow release fertilizer. A spring application of a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet, and during early fall, an application of a 2-1-2 ratio (such as a 10-5-10) can be applied to encourage root development and cold hardiness.

Pruning:

'Blonde Ambition' Blue Grama should be pruned while dormant during late fall or winter.
