Allium ‘Lavender Bubbles’ PP31,126
Blooming Time
Exposure

With tufts of curling, twisting, deep-green foliage, `Lavender Bubbles’ is a wonderful foliage plant, but that of course is not why it is named `Lavender Bubbles’. During late summer and early fall it sends up stout stems that become topped with globe-shaped, deep-purple bubblelike inflorescences that float above the foliage. Like other Allium cultivars its seed heads can be left intact after the flowers have faded to provide texture in the fall and winter garden. `Lavender Bubbles’ pairs well in drifts, or is excellent on its own for edging and mass planting as a ground cover.

Care
Watering:
`Lavender Bubbles' Ornamental Chive is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.
Fertilizing:
`Lavender Bubbles' Ornamental Chive is a moderate feeder, benefiting from a couple of annual applications of slow release fertilizer. A spring application of a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet, and during early fall, an application of a 2-1-2 ratio (such as a 10-5-10) can be applied to encourage root development and cold hardiness.
Pruning:
`Lavender Bubbles' Ornamental Chive is a deciduous plant (nonevergreen) and does not require pruning. It is perfectly acceptable to allow the dropped leaves to decompose and nourish the soil.
