Andropogon gerardii Prairie Proud® Peach Blush™
Blooming Time
Exposure

A tall stately grass with a loose columnar habit, Peach Blush® emerges in spring as a lush clump of soft, grey-green foliage and by mid-summer cylindrical towering culms begin to shoot skyward. Its flowering stems are a bright peach in color, banded with pastel segments of muted indigo and glaucous purple. Finally, in late summer and fall, Peach Blush® is topped with a loose crown of silky purple turkey-foot inflorescences. Airy and wind-responsive these slender, colorful culms remain standing after heavy wind and rains, and are visible from a distance making Peach Blush® a striking specimen, living fence, or backdrop to the summer perennial garden.

Care
Watering:
Peach Blush™ Big Bluestem is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.
Fertilizing:
Peach Blush™ Big Bluestem needs little fertilizer, but benefits from a single springtime or fall topdressing (about 1 inch deep) of organic compost or well rotted leaves. Alternatively, a springtime application of a slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.
Pruning:
Peach Blush™ Big Bluestem should be enjoyed all winter long, then, during early April before it begins to grow again, it should be pruned or mowed back to ground level.
