Achillea millefolium Skysail Yellow
Blooming Time
Exposure

Skysail Yellow is a compact yarrow that blooms all summer long, consistently sending up bright orange buds, which then open to reveal Brillant gold, flat-topped flower heads. These bright flowers eventually age to shades of buttery yellow, giving this plant a multicolored effect. Soft and elegantly textured, Skysail Yellow’s foliage is unappealing to deer and rabbis while its pollen and nectar-rich blossoms are appealing to pollinators. A versatile native cultivar, Skysail Yellow should be considered for mass plantings, naturalizing, general garden use, and even containers.

Care
Watering:
Skysail Yellow Yarrow is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.
Fertilizing:
Skysail Yellow Yarrow needs little fertilizer, but benefits from a single springtime or fall topdressing (about 1 inch deep) of organic compost or well-rotted leaves. Alternatively, a springtime application of a slow-release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.
Pruning:
Skysail Yellow Yarrow should be enjoyed all winter long, then, during early April before it begins to grow again, it should be pruned or mowed back to ground level.
