(Image Courtesy of Walters Gardens) `Ascot Rainbow’ is clothed in sage-green, creamy-yellow margined, fine textured foliage that is wine-red at the tip of the stems. Arranged densely upon thin, purple-rose colored stems, the foliage is accented, during springtime, with sprays of chartreuse petaled, dark crimson-centered flowers. Overall `Ascot Rainbow’ is a kaleidoscope of color. It is a neat and tidy plant with compact habit like a miniature shrub (reminiscent of daphne) and it requires little maintenance. It is also quite drought tolerant and excellent in rock gardens or in more traditional garden settings.

Care

Watering:

`Ascot Rainbow' Spurge is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.

Fertilizing:

`Ascot Rainbow' Spurge needs little fertilizer, but benefits from a single springtime or fall topdressing (about 1 inch deep) of organic compost or well rotted leaves. Alternatively, a springtime application of a slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.

Pruning:

`Ascot Rainbow' Spurge should be pruned while dormant during late fall or winter.
