We tested `Bonfire’ for two full years and found it to be absolutely reliable, overwintering 100% and slowly expanding with age, but not the least bit invasive. We also found it to be exceptionally colorful, with foliage emerging green and changing to deep purple before flowering. The flowers are electric-yellow-petaled with red-tinged chartreuse bracts during spring to mid-summer. `Bonfire’ needs good drainage, and in time can form clumps up to 3-feet-across.

Care
Watering:
`Bonfire' Spurge is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.
Fertilizing:
`Bonfire' Spurge needs little fertilizer, but benefits from a single springtime or fall topdressing (about 1 inch deep) of organic compost or well rotted leaves. Alternatively, a springtime application of a slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.
Pruning:
`Bonfire' Spurge should be pruned while dormant during late fall or winter.
