Exposure

Full Sun

Orange Glow’s shimmering pools of ground-blanketing succulent foliage quickly (during late spring) becomes obscured by its brightly colored flowers. With some of the largest flowers of any Delosperma, each bloom is an intense array of colors with petals tipped in rose, bleeding into neon orange, finally meeting eyes of bright yellow. Delosperma is incredibly drought tolerant and functions well when used between stepping stones or pavers, in rock gardens, as a small-scale ground cover or as a spiller over sun-drenched retaining walls.

Care

Watering:

Ocean Sunset™ Orange Glow Ice Plant is very drought tolerant and typically only needs watering during the hottest days of summer.

Fertilizing:

Ocean Sunset™ Orange Glow Ice Plant is a moderate feeder, benefiting from a couple of annual applications of slow release fertilizer. A spring application of a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet, and during early fall, an application of a 2-1-2 ratio (such as a 10-5-10) can be applied to encourage root development and cold hardiness.

Pruning:

Ocean Sunset™ Orange Glow Ice Plant is evergreen and does not require pruning. It is normally only pruned for the purpose of keeping it within bounds.
