As far as peonies go, London may have the best habit we’ve ever seen. It forms perfectly uniform, compact, globe-shaped clumps of lush green foliage. Then, in late spring it becomes topped with dramatic raspberry-pink, cup-shaped blossoms made up of satiny petals carried just above the foliage on sturdy stems. The compact nature of London makes it well suited for containers and smaller spaces that may not suit the traditional full-sized Peony. London is lovely among many companions.

Care

Watering:

London Patio Peony is moderately drought tolerant but benefits from occasional watering, to maintain soil in a moist but not wet condition, during the summer months.

Fertilizing:

London Patio Peony needs little fertilizer, but benefits from a single springtime or fall topdressing (about 1 inch deep) of organic compost or well rotted leaves. Alternatively, a springtime application of a slow release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio (such as a 15-5-10) can be applied at a rate of about 10 pounds per 1000 square feet.

Pruning:

London Patio Peony should be pruned while dormant during late fall or winter.
